New EP announcement

Saber Cuts a Dash will release a new 7-track EP this summer in a physical format. However, it will not be available to purchase—it can only be won by entering a competition!

The competition comprises a crossword puzzle that must be successfully completed and returned by July 7th. Only correctly completed crosswords will be eligible to receive a free copy of the EP.

If you haven’t already, you will need to subscribe to the Sabergram in order to receive the crossword, as well as further instructions.

The EP, entitled Don’t Break My Reverie, is led by the breezy, upbeat, nostalgia-tinged title track, which is accompanied by another completely new recording. The remaining tracks comprise partially re-recorded, remixed, and remastered versions of existing songs, but all are previously unreleased in these formats.

All of the included tracks will be performed live by SCAD at the upcoming, soon-to-be-announced live shows.

This is a bespoke, individually numbered release (VIV004), hand-finished and personalised by SCAD for all winners of the competition.

Good luck!

Recording!

Saber cuts a dash was recently in a studio in Sitges, Spain, recording the title track from his forthcoming 7-Track EP, as well as his own version of an old ‘traditional’ number.

The EP will include two brand new recordings, two partially re-recorded versions of existing songs, one previously unreleased mix of a rare ‘hidden track’, as well as two alternate mixes of the aforementioned ‘new’ recordings.

All of these songs (included on the EP) will be performed live, as part of the series of intimate concerts to be announced later this year.

As previously stated, this ‘physical format’ EP will not be available to buy… it can only be won! Sign up for the Sabergram to be notified of competition instructions in due course!

New 7-track EP to be released this summer!

Saber cuts a dash will release a new 7-track EP this summer. The title track is said to contain more “Yeahs” than both the songs ‘Lithium’ & ‘Man on the moon’ combined! It is also described as “The song of the summer!

The ‘bespoke’ EP will be on physical format (containing individually handmade artwork) and will not be available to purchase… it can only be won by entering a competition! More details will be announced in due course… 😉

A Year in Progress / Into 2026

We hope you had a lovely Christmas and that you’re already making exciting plans for 2026.

This will be the last post for a little while, so we wanted to take a moment to reflect.

In 2025, SCAD recorded all the music for his next studio album, released four singles (two on physical formats) with accompanying music videos, and made the stupid / brave / visionary (you decide) decision to step away from all social media and streaming platforms from 2026 onwards.

Alongside this, SCAD also made the bold / singular / ridiculous (again, you decide) decision to retire as Saber Cuts a Dash in 2030 — first promising four more albums, with absolutely no dip in quality (possibly even exceeding previous heights), before finally hanging up the Chelsea boots and frilly shirts. You can read more about the retirement decision here.

Even the classic era fans weren’t forgotten. SCAD agreed to a one-off Legacy Tour, playing all the hits from a parallel, olive-tinted universe — including ‘Stars Serenade’ and ‘Princess’ (for those who prefer the pretty — albeit sophisticated and original — pop songs to the “more meaningful” modern-era material). After all, there will always be people who prefer ‘I Wanna Hold Your Hand’ to ‘I Am the Walrus’ 😉

Sadly, the Legacy Tour won’t be coming to England 😥

Looking ahead to 2026: SCAD will finally return to the live stage (yes… we know he said that last year), and will also complete the next album, JUSTICE — which the composer confidently promises will “blow the doors off”, both musically and lyrically. The accompanying tour will both introduce — and ultimately kill off — The Dark Song & Dance Master.

On a more reflective note, a special thank you to the five greatest SCAD (and previously Saber) supporters throughout his entire career to date — initials only, to protect identities, and in no particular order:

KB · TW · EJW · MR · GWK

Some have drifted away, some are sadly no longer part of this physical earth, and some have moved on to new lives and families that quite rightly take priority. But your importance throughout this long, unpredictable journey is appreciated more than you could ever know. Your contributions will never be forgotten as the next chapter of a new book begins…

The beginning of the end.

Have a wonderful New Year. Sending you much love and positive thoughts.

Your vivacious friend xx

The Next Phase: An Announcement

As of 01.01.2026, Saber Cuts a Dash will step away entirely from social media and all streaming platforms, choosing instead to focus 100% on being the true, authentic, and uncompromising artist he always set out to be.

Not every artist creates for external validation or a narrow, linear definition of success. Does earning a pre-determined sum for one to three years—while functioning as a corporate puppet with little or no control over your artistic direction—really mean you’ve “made it”?

A real artist creates what is honest to them, regardless of who is listening, and without concern for approval. A real artist refuses to dilute or reshape their sound and message for the “casual scroller,” or for a 10–30 second background clip playing while attention drifts elsewhere—TikTok or otherwise.

This is about expression. About the creative process. About the birth of original work—not the approval of junk culture or microwave pop-hit consumption. It’s about reaching people in real life, forming genuine connections, and creating profound experiences that linger long after the record stops spinning or the performance ends. It’s about placing value in the music… in the art… and in the audience who choose to support it.

SCAD has always stood for quality over quantity. Until his musical retirement in 2030, he will continue as an artist on the margins, making and performing music for himself, for the loyal audience who never forgot him (nor stopped supporting him), and for any new listeners who happen to connect with his vibe as he enters this exciting new phase—free from algorithms, unfair royalty payments, sad and pathetic trolls, empty ‘likes’ and all the rest of the NOISE.

SCAD will never “drop” a release, beg for subscriptions, ask anyone to smash a notification button, or describe his work as a “gamechanger.” Instead, he will continue delivering highly original music as art, not content—released in physical formats (as well as high-resolution digital downloads). And at some point in the future, he will return… with JUSTICE.

Until then, the focus is on preparing for a return to the live stage: intimate, pop-up performances here and there, across Europe and beyond. Better to play for 30 attentive lovers of music—silent, present, and absorbed—than for 30,000 casual listeners talking over the songs while staring at their phones for three-quarters of the set.

If you’d like to be part of this next chapter of Saber Cuts a Dash, these are the only places SCAD will remain active online:

  • Official website: https://sabercutsadash.com/
  • Email: contact@sabercutsadash.com
  • Sabergram (newsletter): https://sabercutsadash.com/mailing-list/
  • YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/SaberCutsADash

Thank you for reading this far, and wishing you a wonderful Christmas 🎄

May 2026 bring you everything you truly deserve 🎉

You will of course be notified of the dates in due course, and we hope that you appreciate this ‘algorithm chasing free’ release in a tactile format! Let’s bring VALUE back to MUSIC as a lasting work of ART 😊

Mixing the forthcoming ‘standalone’ release

Saber cuts a dash was recently in London’s Area18 Studios with mixing engineer Richard Bignell to complete the mixes for his forthcoming Double A Sided Single release.

The standalone single (currently only identified by its VIV003 catalogue number) marks a new era for SCAD and will be released on physical format before the end of this year. It will not be made available on any streaming platform.

5 years: The beginning of the end…

Saber cuts a dash will retire from all musical activity by the end of 2030.

However, there is still much to accomplish before then. The goal is to leave behind a lasting legacy—one marked not by dips in quality, but by continued growth and excellence; all without artistic compromise.

The plans are outlined below:

4th & final single from the latest album released

The 4th and final single from the album For the Ones We’ve Lost is released today.

These Memories (are Here to Stay) is presented in its full-length version, accompanied by a music video directed by Dan Elektro. You can watch it here.

The song serves as a multigenerational, posthumous love song that works on two levels and from two perspectives. The song also works as a universal love song that transcends life & death, showing us that true love never dies.
